“The Camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”
—Dorothea Lange
Photographer’s Statement:
Rebecca began taking photos in grade school when she was old enough to hold a film Nikon camera steady in her small hands. Early on, she learned how to take pictures manually and to “see creatively.” Rebecca grew up in a family of photographers with exposure to the science of light and chemistry. She studied Visual Arts at Syracuse University and learned how to develop her own black and white photos in the darkroom. Portraits, events, and family photoshoots are her favorites; she loves to capture emotion and expression through a single moment in time. As a mother of three college athletes, she also developed a passion for sports photography, capturing the relationship between the subject, speed, and light. One of Rebecca’s greatest joys is teaching photography students how composition and light combine to create an visually interesting photograph. Her school photography credits include website, social media, marketing/print, and yearbook photos for: Montgomery County Schools (MD), St. John’s College High School (DC), The Bullis School (MD), Academy of the Holy Cross (MD), St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, (MD), University of Lynchburg Men’s Lacrosse, (VA), and Jacksonville University Men’s and Woman’s Lacrosse, (FL).
